Being a Breast Cancer Survivor

0:00

I was never close to anyone battling breast cancer and although I was aware of this horrible disease never gave it much thought besides doing my annual testing. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 1. After my surgery, I was given chemo and radiation as preventive measures having two cousins with breast cancer. I have finished all my treatments and my oncologist says I am cured - not in remission but cured. God has been my driving force in this battle. I have now been certified as a volunteer for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure in Puerto Rico and I am now able to give back to others what has been given to me - HEALTH!
