First Year Survivor

The biggest adventure of my life was how cancer proved that I was a truly resilient person with a positive, humorous attitude. I saw each visit over two years of extensive treatments as a challenge that was an interesting new game. I played that game with my visual imagination. I am a visual artist. Picturing imagery while undergoing extensive periods of radiation helped me to stay calm and relaxed during treatment days. Listening to my body and its needs helped me to "go with the flow" and rest, eat with care and face each new test. Nothing was easy, pain management and rest taught me to find enough energy to handle most of my trips well. This year, confidence in my energy and hope for my future well being allows me to interact with my community and listen better to others as well as to myself.
